The European Commission released the following Press Release today, 7th June 2018:

For the next long-term EU budget 2021-2027, the Commission is proposing €100 billion for research and innovation.

A new programme – Horizon Europe – will build on the achievements and success of the previous research and innovation programme (Horizon 2020) and keep the EU at the forefront of global research and innovation. Horizon Europe is the most ambitious research and innovation programme ever.

Commission Vice-President Jyrki Katainen, responsible for Jobs, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness, said “Investing in research and innovation is investing in Europe’s future. EU funding has allowed teams across countries and scientific disciplines to work together and make unthinkable discoveries, making Europe a world-class leader in research and innovation. With Horizon Europe, we want to build on this success and continue to make a real difference in the lives of citizens and society as a whole.”

Minister Halligan welcomes the appointment of Sharon Bailey as the Chairperson of the European Association of Research Managers Administrators (EARMA) – DJEI, 28th April 2017

The Minister for Skills, Training and Innovation, John Halligan TD, today welcomes the appointment of Sharon Bailey as the Chairperson of the European Association of Research Managers Administrators (EARMA). Ms Bailey, currently Director of Research Finance & Operations in University College Dublin (UCD,) is the first woman elected to this role.EARMA represents the community of Research Managers and Administrators (RM&As) in Europe. It currently has more than 1,000 members, across 40 Countries, who work in industry, academia, the public and private sectors. EARMA works with the EU Commission, as well as national and international funding agencies. It provides a networking forum, a learning platform, and a place to share experiences and best practice in the wider RM&A community.Minister Halligan said “The appointment of Sharon Bailey is a fantastic achievement both for her personally and the Irish research community. I wish to extend my congratulations to Ms Bailey and wish her every success in her new role. Big Data PPP Lighthouse Projects Information day

A special Information and Networking Day dedicated to H2020’s ICT-15 ‘Big Data PPP: Large Scale Pilot actions in sectors best benefitting from data-driven innovation’ (also known as Lighthouse Projects) will be organised by DG Connect – Data Value Chain Unit, on 1st December 2015 in Albert Borschette Congress Center in Brussels.

Lighthouse projects are large scale Innovation Actions aiming to practically demonstrate how big data technologies can be transformative for data intensive industrial domains. Nanomedicine ETP Annual Event +H2020 Brokerage
